A. Maria Bursey

Maria Bursey is an associate and was called to the bar in Ontario in 2009. She practices exclusively in the area of professional negligence.

Prior to joining Powell Barrister Professional Corporation in 2011, Maria was an associate in the litigation group at a midsized Bay Street law firm where she articled. Maria has acted, and continues to act, as lead counsel on numerous professional negligence files with respect to claims against real estate agents and lawyers.

She also acts as Independent Legal Counsel to the Real Estate Council of Ontario's Discipline Committee and in her spare time volunteers as Duty Counsel with Pro Bono Law Ontario.

While at Queen's, Maria won both the David Sabbath Prizes in Constitutional Law and Advanced Constitutional Law and was a member of the Wilson Moot team (2007), the Fasken Martineau International Law Moot (2006) and represented clients at Queen's Legal Aid.
